We had a great week this week with 22 lessons and 6 new investigators!! Constant Miracles happening all around us! It was such a sweet humbling experience. The Park Center ward had fasted for more missionary opportunities and we saw their faith and prayers be answered! I love being a missionary and seeing all these little changes first hand! It is the best opportunity ever!
Starting off the week we had a zone P-day where we played ultimate football and when you have football players on the same team it gets very intense! It was a blast! I found myself on the floor twice, once on my butt the other rolling because I tripped over one of the Elders feet! hahaha I can't count how many times I collided into Elders! hahaha opps! :)
We taught a lesson in the Mission Prep class at the BSU institute because Brother Fife from my last stake asked us to! It was a blast and we were really able to help people understand the Restoration a bit more! Jordan Night was in my first area and I saw her there and invited her to come and she was our " investigator" and she did really well. I think that helped her a ton! It was great! Ready for this?! So we went to contact some Less active members and see if they still lived there and we knock on ZUZU's door and she lets us in and we begin talking about religion and she is Muslim So that was interesting to hear about her religious beliefs. Her husband gets home and Sister Schulte goes to shake his hand but apparently men don't she other women's hands... hahah so it was super awkward and hilarious watching her slowly back towards the couch and sit back down. hahhaa We have decided because of this week we could teach awkward 101 and do a FANOMINAL job! What can we say? We are pros!!! hahahaha We went to contact a referral that night and we met Rachel and Natile. Natile is a member who doesn't attend church right now and Rachel is her roommate who is super fun! They both invited us to come have dinner with them next week! It should be fun! I always wonder how or what caused people not to go to church. That has been on my mind a lot and it's been hard to deal with especially with family but all you can do is pray for them!
So one of my new goals for when I get home is to be an institute graduate! We went to institute with Alex this week and man was I in heaven! So my knowledge and depth in the scriptures! We went to a New Testament class because she couldn't make it to the Book of Mormon one and she had such a good time! She had been to a Catholic school from K to 12 and she thought institute would be like that but she was very surprised when Brother Fife let the class give their opinion and help teach each other! It was a great experience for her! We were also able to see Rick that night and give him a Restoration pamphlet and he told us his only hold up was the thought that he wouldn't be Mormon enough...he is such a sweet amazing guy! If anyone is struggling with their faith just come talk to Rick and everything will be okay cuz he has faith to spare! It's awesome! We teach him and OUR faith grows!!!!!
Sweet Sister Aayad is dying of cancer...its all over her body and they are just waiting till it takes her completely and she's only in her 60s. We went over to her house to sing to her out of the hymn book. That is the thing she wants right before she goes is to have people sing to here in Spanish tho! Super sweet! We had a lesson on the Plan of Salvation with Alex and were really Bold about Baptism and when we walked out of the lesson we felt like she understood everything but we felt like we pushed too hard about baptism! But our fears were wrong when she told us she was going to go to church!!!!
Zone meeting was really good this month! We talked a lot about Repentance and how to teach it and help people really understand the true meaning. Elder Cain shared an experience and challenged all of us to spend a moment in Gethsemane, in that moment where Jesus Christ paid for our sins so for Sister Clawson's sins. I'm not sure still how I will do that but I will find a way and I challenge you ALL to do that too! Have a sacred moment with your Savior and ask Him to help you understand just even a little of what the Atonement really means!
Well, I have to get going but I will be praying for all of you!!! Stay close to your Savior and learn from Him!!!! I know this Church is true and that this is the only way that we can make it back to live with our Father in Heaven again!
Love you all soooooooo much!
<3 Sister Ashley Clawson
