This week was AMAZING!!!!!! We had three boys get baptized this week and two of them were ordained right after they were confirmed!!! It was such a great experience! First Hunter got baptized and his dad baptized him! Little background on Brother Barnes, not sure if I shared this already but any whos he comes from a very active family and his parents are just amazing! He fell away from the church at a young age and has come back a couple times since then but has had an issue with smoking that made him really sick. About a month or so ago he went to a rehab for his depression and they also supplied him with the things that helped him stop smoking! He had an issue with Joesph Smith and the Priesthood as well but after he stopped smoking, that issue went away! Miracles after Miracles! Well, Brother Barnes looked so good in white that night and so did Hunter. Wednesday was his birthday so he was baptized then too! His whole family, even the older boys who had fallen away a couple years ago came to the confirmation and the ordination! So next week, most likely be my last Sunday in this ward, he will be passing the sacrament and hopefully we will be able to go with him to do baptisms this week!!! Because of all of this with Hunter, His dad and mom are now active in the church and his sister is coming back and taking her boyfriend to the singles ward!!!! I love when one person can cause a domino effect down the line and change so many peoples hearts!
The second baptism was on Saturday for Josh and Taylor! More background, Joe is the dad and he went on a mission then came back and married and baptized their mom Lacie. Some things happened and they got divorced and since Lacie was all by herself she just stopped going to church. Me and Sister Delahoyde met her for the first time 6 months ago and had a really good meeting with her. A couple of weeks later we got to talk with the kiddos and from there we taught them the lessons and Taylor was already to jump into the font but Josh was still kinda hesitant. Joe, on the other hand, wasn't active any more either and he had gotten remarried and had 2 kids. So we got his address and sent Elders over there to help teach the boys when they were over there for their dad's week. Elder Scott baptized both boys, Elder Wright confirmed both boys, and then Elder Madrid ordained Josh to the office of a Deacon! It was beautiful! Me and Sister Lassen both gave talks, me on the Holy Ghost and she gave a beautiful job on baptism. Lacie cried when they got baptized when Bishop mentioned the amazing visit we had with her and her kids and most of all when Josh received the Aaronic Priesthood! She told me that she didn't know why she was crying and I told her it was because of the Holy Ghost witnessing the truth of the priesthood and where she was going in her life! I gave her a big hug and told her that it is her turn now to get her temple recommend and do baptisms for the dead with her son!
After the Elders had left on Sunday we were walking back into the church building and this lady with her kids stopped us and asked us if we has a card. We were both super confused..Then she tells us that her 8 and 9 year old have not gotten baptized yet! Either had her husband and she waned us to come over and teach them! Man, was this ever and answer to my prayers! We had so many investigators when Sister Lassen first got here and now I was leaving her with pretty much no work! I had been praying for weeks to find more people to teach so I can leave her with appointments and investigators! After we gave her the card I walked into the clerks office where Brother Morgan was and just balled! How am I worthy of all this success and to have my prayers answered! I learned that we all have different purposes in different areas! My last one was for my companion and those 2 converts that we taught and this area is for those that I have met and helped to come unto Christ here!
Henry is already for his baptism on Sunday we just have to get the program together and hes all ready!
Ashley is Allison's (recent convert) she had her baby last week cute little Jayden. Well, we went over to introduce Allison to her new primary teacher so she would feel more comfortable and Ashley was super overwhelmed so we just stayed there after she left for her doctors appointment and cleaned! It was really good! She sent us a text when she got home thanking us and sharing her love for us and her appriciation! She also has said that she wants to be sealed in the temple some day!
We had another really cool experience! Sister Hubbard called us one night and asked us to get some men to give a priesthood blessing for her friend that she had been talking to in college he is LDS just not active but wants to come back to the church and be sealed as well! We get over there and i get their address and phone numbers and set a time that the missionaries could come over and meet them and give his wife a blessing as well! I love how closely knit the church is and we can get to the people we need in a moments notice! The Elders that I called that are in their ward have since been over and given her a blessing and now they are in their hands!
You guys! I want you all to know that i know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true! Joseph Smith was spot on when he said that no other book but the Book of Mormon can bring you closer to God! I love you all so much! Have a great week!
LOVE YOU ALL SOOO MUCH!!!!!!
The Barnes family!
Josh, Taylor, Lacie, and Brooklyn!
